About

His grandmammer first taught him to paint as a little guy. While his friends practiced layups, Calvin sketched, painted and practiced any other graphic art form he could get his hands on. In high school his love of music drew him onto the stage and into recording studios; and undergrad began with a full tuition scholarship for vocal performance (music) at UNLV.

Facing the audience was never enough though, and Calvin hung around sound recording specialists as much as he was on stage. He learned the art of multi-track recording, mixing, and setting up live performance and studio sound systems. In high school, he sometimes found it easier to turn in an inspired painting or creative recording instead of book reports; and was often surprised to receive extra credit instead of reprimand for working the system. His siblings found this distasteful.

Vocal performance turned into theater performance, and he transferred to Brigham Young University for an acting major for both stage and camera.  Experience as a film actor introduced him to the ultimate answer to his smorgasbord of talents. Calvin was drawn behind the camera and the pen to the deeper conceptual, theoretical, and rhetorical aspects of storytelling. He was accepted into BYU’s prestigious film theory and production department, and these people wouldn’t take creative work in place of writing assignments. Often confined to the pen, he soon found yet another talent for communication. With an emphasis in writing and directing, he graduated with an award winning screenplay and an award winning senior film. Central to his success was a natural and unusual understanding of human psychology–Calvin can intuitively anticipate audience response.

His senior film was contracted for commercial distribution, and for the last 7 years he has written, directed, and produced numerous commercial projects for businesses, production companies, nonprofit organizations and individuals through a variety of media vehicles. This site contains just a few highlights of that diversity in his work. He is experienced with budgets both large and small and his services range from simple guidance in a consulting capacity to taking the reigns at a client’s request.

Whatever your goals, he will see that you connect to your audience so they receive the message you intend. General consultation is free of charge, so please feel free to call, text, email or holler.
